French textile firm DMC seeks creditor protection

STRASSBORUG, April 29 (Reuters) - Dollfus-Mieg et Cie, a traditional embroidery textiles firm founded in the Alsace region in 1746, said on Tuesday it had applied to a commercial court for creditor protection.
In a statement the firm (DOLP.PA: Quote, Profile, Research) said its problems were caused by the weak dollar and competition from products made in Asia.
The firm said it would go to the commercial court on Wednesday. The court can either decide to try and restructure the debt in a new safeguard procedure tested out by Channel tunnel operator Eurotunnel last year, or to close down the firm.
Ignace Hermann, a labour union representative, said DMC would apply for a payment freeze for parent DMC SA and also the DMC Tissus sportswear subsidiary.
Share trading in DMC was suspended on Thursday.
DMC has already announced a plan to shed 208 jobs out of 1,100.
The group was established in Mulhouse over 250 years ago to make painted fabrics, called toiles Indiennes in French, and still employs 850 people in this region in northeast France.
In February it said 2007 turnover was down 18.9 percent to 145.5 million euros.
In January this year it agreed with its creditors a debt rescheduling for 14 million euros.

What's today again?

What's today? Is it a special day? Did I do something on this day a few years ago? HHHmmmmmmm, I'll have to wrack my brain to try and remember.

I didn't stitch yesterday

I made some slop in the pan for dinner.

It was hot here and it is again today.

Happy Happy Joy Joy

I finished up those SanMan Doodle projects this evening, I made a biscornu. I stitched the bright one with 4 different flosses from SanMan Strands and CPR Floss and the dark one is SanMan strands Whirlwind. Both of those flosses are no longer made. I stitched them on 18 count white aida

YAY YAY YAY! My daughter & her family made it home from Florida ok! She said it was very busy but they had a GREAT time! I am SO happy to hear that, I will call her on Tuesday to talk to her.

The Yankees beat Clevaland 1-0 and Boston lost! Woo Hoo

The BIG WAHOO for today is I have a piece of paper with a number on it that allows me to get on a Lufthansa airplane on May 28, fly to Germany then get on another Lufthansa airplane and fly to Boston on the 29th! That is 30 days! Happy dancing in the desert!

I had take out again, a yummy Thai chicken wrap sandwich which was VERY good. DH had a salad.

I just HAD to put that cat picture up there today, I LOVE it! I was browsing the "I can haz cheezeburger" site today and just laughing at the pictures. http://icanhascheezburger.com/

It was still 101F at 8:30 last night, ICK! AT 10:30AM it's "only" 36.2C (97.2F). Yesterday was a really rare nasty day for here.
At 2:00PM it's 39C (102.2F) and I gotta wear that nasty black ninja robe out when we go out later.

I finished one SanMan Doodle yesterday and started another one. I finished the bright colored one on Sunday afternoon.

Last night we had Pizza Pizza for supper. DH went to Little Cesars for take out. That pizza was very dry, they skimped on the sauce, they gave us a blob of tomato paste in a container for breadstick dip, that was NASTY too. Don't know what is for dinner tonight. DH said something about going to get a ticket.

10:45AM, 11:50AM, 1:55PM

38.1C (100.6F), dry dusty blowing winds, it's like opening your oven door. It's overcast and dusty, another sand storm. Good thing I walked early this morning.

Ok, back to finishing my SanMan Doodle.

39.9C (103.8F) at 11:50AM
41.2C (106.2F) at 1:55PM

Finished one SanMan Doodle, going to start another one.

Another week in paradise

32.9C (91.2F for you Americans) at 8:30AM. I took my walk early to avoid the heat. So far it has hit 100 twice. Ick.

I finished an exchange project on Thursday. It's called A Good Friend by Sue Hillis and it's stitched on 32 count Smoky Haze opalescent Mystique Lugana from Enchanted Fabrics and stitched with DMC floss. It's for a good friend of mine this summer.
I also started a SanMan design. Sandy had Doodle Day on her message board on Friday and has LOTS of COMPLIMENTARY GIFT CHARTS from her and a couple others. They are going to make very pretty biscornus, that is what I am going to use them for.
I did have everything out and my needle threaded to start my needleroll for the exchange on Tranquil Stitches board. I will stitch that later today when I am done with Sandy's Doodle.

My Daughter and her family should be heading back to Maine today from a week in Florida, I hope it doesn't take them as long to get home as it did to get down there. I will definitely be saying lots of prayers for their safe travel home.

Not much else happening here. I couldn't sit down on Thursday or Friday and kept jumping up and going cleaning things or picking up this and that. The sneezing/blowing nose problem is worse. I have no idea what is wrong but I sneeze, blow, sneeze. blow. It's gotta be a dust allergy.

Thursday we had spinning chicken for supper. I don't know how to describe spinning chicken to you. I guess the closest thing would be broasted chicken. You take 6 whole chickens, run a rod through them and put them on a huge gas rotisserie cooker until they are done. You get a whole chicken, a 2 lb bag of flavored cooked rice, a small green salad with sauce for less than $2.00. It's so good!
Friday night was grilled fish, cole slaw & hush puppies that tasted HORRIBLE. The flour, baking powder or oil from here is so nasty that things just don't taste like they are supposed to.

Well friends and lurkers, gotta go and finish this SanMan project. I hope you all have a GREAT weekend! (blog comments are always welcome)

Another weekend

Woo hoo, it's Wednesday, the weekend is here. Probably another fun filled exciting weekend like the last few have been, NOT! I know we'll be fighting the horrible, miserable traffic on Thursday headed someplace to shop.
It's 36.6C (97.7F for you Americans) at noon, ick. May 28 can't come soon enough.

It's now day 139 of my monthly cycle, these hot flashes are nuts! But then with my blood pressure being all over the place, I don't' know if they are hot flashes or some sort of side effect of the bp medication not working. Either way, I had my "dil" make me a Dr apt for July.

I got a couple more stitches put in my exchange project. I would really LOVE to know what my stitching block is this time. This is a simple project, it could have been started in finished in 24 hours! But NOOOOOOOO, I've been stitching it for a week now. I still have a needle roll to stitch, my niece's wedding sampler from LAST July & my DD's breast cancer mandala to finish.

I hope DD is having a great time in Florida, I haven't heard from her which can be either good or bad. She said she wanted to to go Miami Ink and have her ankle tattoo touched up, HAHAHA! Sorry but I don't think she has that kind of cash, it's probably expensive to have them touch it. It would be neat to see if they are actually there. I hope my grandson wasn't bored with Disney world and freaked out by the characters like DD & DS were. That was a HUGE disappointment for me. These kids HATED Disney world with a passion, they wanted to leave, they were bored with Epcot, not thrilled with Sea World, but Universal Studios in California when they saw KITT, that was the most awesome thing in the world! These kids were 5 & 8 at the time. Rome Italy was old rocks and nekkid statues, Disney world sucked, Hawaii was un-impressive, Hong Kong was ok but we had to eat at Burger King instead of local authentic food places, Singapore we never left the airport. That was the month long vacation that year, we flew around the world and it was fun and it was CHEAPER than a round trip ticket to the states and back.

Last night we had home made from scratch "macaroni & cheese" and beef kabobs. I had to use some EXPENSIVE velveeta up so mixed up some pasta rounds, added some real cheese and baked that. Sill have some leftovers so that is probably what we will have for supper.
Off to do my pre weekend cleaning.

My quit stats

According to my Get Quit page:
It's been 160 days since you quit.
Not buying cigarettes may have saved you:
$640
I don't have the exact days, hours, minutes & seconds like some pages do nor do I have how many days, hours, minutes or seconds of my life I have saved. Some days are still harder than others.

There is this certain "designer" out there that is extremely miserable to deal with. She puts up her latest "items", the price, says e-mail me to order, takes your orders and your money then says she "mailed" your order out. But then all of a sudden she gets a headache, her phone is down, her kids are sick, this disaster, that disaster and disappears and will NOT answer questions or messages on her board, nor will she come to the direct point and answer EXACTLY WHEN OR IF your order was mailed. IF by chance she has mailed your order, it gets stuffed into Ziploc baggies and stuffed into a regular letter envelope, bulging and all. There are items I would like to order from her but I will not do that now because of her lack of service. It's one excuse after another with her. I am NOT the ONLY ONE that is having problems getting my order, there are SEVERAL others who have not gotten theirs either. I ordered in JANUARY and still have not gotten my order,

I stitched a bit last night on my exchange project.
Last night we just had a large kitchen sink salad. tonight we are having beef/vegetable kabobs with home made macaroni & cheese to clean up some cheese I have left over.

Other than that, same shit, different day.

More new toys

Last night we went out to buy my friend her last lamp. This was the big one but now that I have it, it's not really that big, I can fit it into my suitcase no problem. It's 28 inches tall and it's already wired for electric, they even included a 220 V 25W bulb. Then I bought a new purse. I normally hate & detest buying purses, shoes & stuff like that but this one caught my eye because it is woven on the front with what looks like more floss. It has bright colors and it even has it's own storage bag, LOL. I thought that was cute, a purse with it's own carry bag. It came in many different styles and also black but I liked the khaki color.

I also bought another one of those floss fob things. I would have bought more but I ran out of money. Last night we had a spicy Lebanese cheese salad, it was very good. I don't know why I do that to myself, we have started trying a lot of food from over here that we find out we like. Unfortunately when we go back home we won't be able to get these things anymore in our neck of the woods. Tonight I am going to fix Tofu Parmigana that I found a recipe for on my friend Meggie's blog.

I haven't stitched in DAYS again, probably since Wednesday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO 3 OF MY KITTIES! Today Oreos is 19 years old, Spot & Annie are 6 years old. For dinner Spot will get a tiny bit of beef strips, Oreos, Annie and Granny cat Roxie will split a chicken breast. It's not Roxie's birthday but since she lives here she gets to join the party. The birthday kitties got new catnip toys to slobber on.

A Mother's worry-update

I have been thinking about my daughter and her family since I got up yesterday. Did they make it? Did they stop for the night? Did they drive straight through? Are they ok? I know I should just let them be and have a nice vacation but I just can't help worry about them. They are 30 years old, been married 8 years this July, her husband is a very well trained auto mechanic so car troubles don't bother me, it's their lack of patience when driving through large cities. I may have to break down and see if I can call my daughter later today, just to ease my mind.

I did call DD's cell phone, they were fine, still driving. It took them 4 hours to drive through NJ due to detours, traffic & construction, probably due to the Pope being in NYC over the weekend. They were doing well and in a good mood, excited about getting there. My grandson was being good as well. It's just a mommy thing and mommy feels better now.

Prayers & safe travel vibes needed

Can you please say a prayer and safe travel thoughts for our daughter & her family this week. They are driving from Maine to Orlando & Miami for a weeks vacation. They are going to try and drive straight through. This will be the first ever vacation they have taken as a family. I am excited for them but as a mother I worry while they are on the road.

An idea for floss

I picked up a couple of these items the other day. They look like they were made from floss or thread, braided then wound around. One is the pretty pastel and the other one is very vibrant, bright primary colors. I think you put them on cell phones or those iPod things. I thought they were neat.
floss fobs 2floss fob 2

I've been browsing the Online Needlework show and found a few things I like. Some cute new fobs from Sekas & Co, a couple new charts from Sue Hillis, Oh La La & One More stitch, Summer Biscornu from Barbara Ana. Then I was looking at the newsletter from ABC Stitch Therapy (my LNS) and saw a cute pattern but I didn't save the picture to my wish list and spent almost all day Friday looking for it again. Then the Stitches N Things newsletter came out and there it is, Moose by Moonlight from Glendon Place, I LOVE it.
I got my friend Velda a couple new lamps on Thursday but need to go back today to get her favorite one. The lamps I've been buying her are really neat, they will make a GREAT addition to her Middle East inspired living room. I also saw a purse I kind of like so I might buy that too. I HATE purse shopping so this is a miracle for me.

My poor boy kitty Spot got beat up the other day by one of the stray cats. He is fine but his leg got scratched and bit up so he's been under house arrest for a few days and he's not at all happy about that. He keeps whining to go out and we won't let him. He's gotta learn to quit being the street bully.
Thursday night I fixed some Aloo Gobi, an Indian dish that we can't get at our favorite Indian restaurant then DH went to the Indian place and got some Chicken Jalfrezi, Butter chicken, dahl, rice and nan bread to go with it. MMMMMMmmmm the rest of the stuff was good but that aloo gobi didn't turn out right like we remember. So we had leftovers on Friday night.

It's that time again

Time to get the weed wackers out and get rid of some of this:

It's the longest my hair has ever been and it's getting annoying. So when I get HOME on vacation, I am going to get it cut and probably donate it to Locks of Love.

HE'S FREE!!!!!!!

YAY YAY YAY, MY SON IS FREE!!!
Woooo hooooo, I am happy dancing in the desert! My son is off his 2 year probation and is going to try and get his driver's licence back!

Still in paradise

Ho hum, another weekend. At 12:15 PM today it's 96.6F/35.9C. I did my morning walk at 8:30AM when it was only 87.

Today we find out if our son is a free man! He has his LAST probation hearing and hopefully he will be FREE AND CLEAR and can get a new VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE and will be able to drive again! I am so excited and can't wait to find out. I will definately be saying my prayers all day. It will definately call for a celebration when mama gets home!

Another weekend here, not much planned. We'll probably go back to the lamp store and get Velda's lamp on Thursday then go grocery shopping. It's almost time to get my ticket too.

It's stitchathon time on Cross Stitch Crazy, this month is only a week. I don't know if I will participated or not. I know I used to post large numbers once or twice a week but there are some that post over 1,000 stitches a day EVERY day, really not worth posting a measly 200. Then there are the ones that stitch for 6 hours a day. I used to be able to do that but I guess my brain cells are dying because I can't concentrate much anymore. I did stitch on another exchange project last night, I know I sat through at least 3 hour long tv shows and a couple 1/2 hour shows.

Last night I fixed a mixed bean salad. Chick peas, kidney beans, corn, pimentos, sliced onions, sliced green bell pepper, white beans, chopped tomatoes with chilies. Mixed that up and plopped it on lettuce. There are tons of leftovers for tonight.

5 months today

Thank you for all the lovely comments on my Name tree project, thank you for all the great suggestions as to how to finish it. I now will have to decide, good thing I have until July to think.

Yep, it's been 5 months since I quit smoking. I haven't had a whole cigarette since November 19, haven't had a puff since December. I'm pretty damn proud of myself. I am not going to be that horrible ex-smoker to my son either. Now if I could get rid of this extra 20 lbs that I put on when I quit, I would be happy.

88F/31.6C at 10:15AM. I just got back from my morning walk and I think I'll have to start walking earlier in the morning now, it's getting warm.

Nothing exciting happening, Yankees only won 1 game of the 3 game series with Bahstan this past weekend but overall their not doing well at all.

I started working on another exchange project the other night, this one is due the end of June.
Yuku is down at the moment, something about upgrades or something, which means it will be totally messed up for at least a week.

The past couple of nights we've had Spinach lasagna roll ups. I just took fresh spinach, ricotta, chopped onion, chopped sauteed green/red bell peppers mixed that up and spooned it on to cooked lasagna noodles and cooked them spaghetti sauce & V8 juice. MMMMMM they were good. Don't know what we'll have tonight though.

Oh, today is Tax day in the US. We have an automatic extention since we live overseas.

If this was YOURS

How would you like it finished? I know I posted this on one of my boards but I didn't get time to post it here last night.

If this was coming to YOUR house, how would you like this to be finished when it arrives? It's for a Friendship exchange and I am not sure how to finish it for this person. Would you like it in a pinkeep, tiny needleroll, framed in a pretty frame, a mini ornament, or un finished so you can finish it however you would like(please don't look at the back)?

I still need to add the rest of the beads but it's really done on 32 count Purple PUnch hand dyed linen from Silkweaver and it's stitched over 1 linen thread with 1 strand of Gloriana Silk thread called Ultraviolet.

I am NOT at all fond of the scanner I had to use, I really miss my scanner and photo program!

SBQ Question

What is the most complicated piece you’ve ever completed?
I am honestly not sure! There have been several that have kicked my butt but I finished them. Two that come to mind are Love Conquers All, a kit from Janlynn that I stitched for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. It is stitched on black aida, but you stitch it one way, turn it a bit and it comes up in sort of a diamond shape.

Then there was the STatue of Liberty project. That was a pattern from a magazine and it was supposed to be stitched on 28 count Monaco. I had never stitched on anything but aida so that is what I stitched it on. It used ALL RAYON threads and there were TONS of 1/4 stitches, NOT FUN at all. But I was stitching it at a very devistating time in my life when I needed to focus on something other than my broken heart.

Saturday

I actually got up early for a change, got up at 7AM, looked out the door and it had rained during the night. Not just blobs but rain. The whole patio was wet, the patio table, both the cars and the whole street, it must have been some rain and I missed it. VERY unusual for this time of year. Now it's very humid outside. 85F/29.5C at 9:30AM.

So this is "Rivalry weekend". The Yankees are in Bahstan for 3 games and we took the first game! GO YANKEES!

The hunter stuck again Friday. Miss Annie brought me another bird, the 2nd one this week. She pranced around the patio with it then brought it in the house and pranced around with it before she ran into the kitchen under the table with it. Pretty proud of herself again, LOL.

I love making people happy, my weakness is spoiling my friends. Well Thursday we went back to that shop from last week and I bought my friend Velda a couple lamps. They were a LOT cheaper than I thought they would be. I thought I bought 2 different kinds but the guy got confused and only put 2 lamps in the box. They were so friendly this time and he said I could take pictures of what ever I wanted to, so I did. I took pictures of some more lamps for V and sent them to her. She chose the ones she wants so we will go back maybe this week to get them.

While we were in the shop waiting for the guy to box up the lamps DH & I both saw these BEAUTIFUL oil or tart burners at the same time. I looked at them and so did DH. I said how pretty they were and he said the same thing at the same time. I asked him which one he liked best so I could get it for him for our anniversary later this month, he was thinking the same thing! This is getting really strange, we think alike and at the same time on SO MANY things lately, pretty freaky. We ended up getting 2 of the burner things for each other since I can't get out on my own to buy things. I bought the Eagle for him and he bought the Dolphins for me.

I should have gone out and did my walk earlier but I didn't so now it's off to do the walk.

Last night we had steak, baked potato, mushy peas, steamed broccoli & cauliflower. We found something different to put on our baked potatoes. Here they have stuff called Breakfast Creme, not sure just what it is but it tastes like it is one step up from yogurt but not sour cream, cream cheese nor whipped cream but it is just perfect! Not really sure what is for dinner tonight. I did take some dried pork out to rehydrate it for something. Yes, I have pork, the forbidden, illegal meat. A couple years ago, I got a food dehydrator and dried some pork strips & wafer thin lunch meat, put it in vacuum bags then in empty doggie treat boxes and brought it back. I don't know what the big deal is, IT IS FOR MY PERSONAL USE, I am not going to share ANY of it with muslims, it's MINE, ALL MINE!

This is on a refrigerator magnet I bought today:

I may have to chart this into a cross stitch pattern.

Internet problems

Update to the post below! It's now after 1PM in the afternoon, up until about 1/2 hour ago, the internet was just fine and dandy, not super fast like it USED to be but faster than yesterday. NOT all of a sudden, that mouse has died! This SO sucks!

A Holy CRAP moment! I was out doing my vigorous walk this morning when these wet blobs started dropping on me from the sky! That was a definate rare thing! I did see that it was very grey, cloudy and overcast this morning but sheesh it's already rained it's normal 2 days this year and it's April which adds to the rare occurrence (sorry, the spell checker hasn't worked in months on this thing)

Well if you don't see me for awhile it's because the mouse this country uses to power the kingdomwide internet hasn't been fed in a month or so and it's dying and just doesn't run around on that power wheel as often as it should. My connection was absoultely horrible yesterday, it took forever for anything to load if it did, so rather than get my blood pressure in a worse condition that it is, I just walked away from the computer and stitched. Hopefully I can check around a little bit today.

Yesterday I stitched more on this exchange piece. I got one side done, had to frog about 100 stitches on the bottom letter since it was off by 2 stitches. The fabric is darker that the scan shows and the floss is much prettier. Unfortunately because of the problems I had withe the floss at the begining of the piece, the color changes don't line up right on both sides. For those that don't know, if you turn your head sideways so your left ear is pointed to your shoulder, you should be able to read what the tree says. It says Pals.

I took all my "must do" projects and put them in a tote bag by my stitching table so I can get them done. I have 6 pieces that NEED to be done by May 26, 3 are exchanges and 3 are for family

Well the hunter scored again yesterday, Miss Annie got herself another bird again. This one was a large Mourning dove, there were feathers all over the yard and the patio, who knew one of those birds could have so many feathers. She was pretty damn proud of herself too.

I need to say this now, since everytime I say something about it on my blog, the alternate happens and life goes on. I am on day 124 of my so called "menstrual cycle", I haven't had a period since December 6. Can this be? Is it over? I have had hot flashes, night sweats, extremely dry skin and a few other symptoms and I WAS diagnosed a few years ago as being peri-menopausal so hopefully it's finally here!! I will however keep that bottom shelf full of tampons & pads just in case since I can't buy tampons here.

The other night I fixed the Cheese & Chili "Souffle" for supper. It was pretty good but a little watery. Of course I had to add more cheese, broccoli & cauliflower to the mixture. We finished it up last night. Tonight will be Spinach Citrus salad.

Ok, well I"ve rambled on long enough, I HOPE this posts, so if I normally post on any message boards that you read and I"m not posting, it's my fucked up internet connection again.

Sunday, April 6, 2008

Yep, another day in paradise

If I didn't know better, I'd say it was going to rain any minute. The sky is dark, grey, overcast and very humid. Highly unusual for April and one of the cats is very un easy today which is a sign of something.

Hey, you 123 posters, I do NOT read that board every day and when I do post something, I very rarely go back and check that post again. Apparently I am supposed to sit in front of my computer all day and all evening and just hit refresh to check for new messages and updates on that board. I don't even read that board every day, actually I only go there maybe 3 or 4 times a week. Some of those people really need to get a life.

I started a new project last night but I'm not sure how it will go together. I REALLY wanted to use a different floss, one with a special name but unfortunately it didn't show up on this fabric so I had to switch to a Gloriana silk floss which is a pain in the ass. I had 3 knots after only 12 stitches last night and already had to cut the floss. I am stitching this Name tree over 1 fabric thread on 32 count linen with 1 strand of silk floss. It is for a friend. Tell me what you think of it. Naturally the scanner does not show up the right color fabric or floss.
I made some really good salad "croutons" last night. We had some left over flatbread so I took it apart, sprinkled it with garlic powder, caraway seeds, sesame seeds, ground Italian seasonings, brushed it with olive oil then baked in a 325 oven for about 15 minutes. It came out so crispy and good! It went really well with the kitchen sink salad. Kitchen Sink salad is when I put everything but the kitchen sink in a salad.
Toinight I think I"ll fix that Cheese & Chili "souffle", the chilies being green chilies, not bean chili, or the spinach & orange salad, I can't decide.
I'm off for my walk and stitching today.

A new week

Some people really need to get a backbone and grow up, either that or stop whining on a public message board. It's amazing how you can make a comment and it gets totally blown all out of proportion, upside down and inside out to say the totally opposite thing of what you said. And then you are expected to sit with your face glued to that board all day and wait for replies to what you said so you can reply back. Sheesh, get a life! I posted on that 123 board back in November that I was going to quit smoking, 3 people replied good luck, you can do it, etc. Ok fine, I didn't post anymore, no big deal to me, I was taking Chatix anyway and I found things to keep me busy during the day, yes it was a HUGE struggle, YES I still feel the urge to smoke, but I get past it. I have since posted in the past few months good luck and support to others on that board who have posted that they were trying to quit and they didn't make a big deal out of it, but this chicka thinks she needs to make a HUGE deal out of nothing, but then she makes a huge deal out of everything.

DH & I had to go meet a friend this past Thursday so we went browsing in the mall. I walked into this "stuff store" and found the PERFECT Arabesque style hanging lamps for V's house! I fell in love with them and started taking pictures so I could send them to her. Well this guy who worked there came along and wanted to know why I was taking pictures, what for. I tried to explain that it was for a friend's house decoration, to ask her which one she liked, I wasn't going to buy them if she didn't like they. Well are you going to come back here and buy them? he asked. Anyway Velda loved them so sometime this week or next weekend we will have to go back. I did find a pair of purple flip flops in another store that I bought and I HATE shopping for and buying shoes but now when we go back and get the lamps, I might buy a couple more pair in different colors.

Well that hardanger project is ruined. I went back and read that message board again that I joined to help with the project and read that i was supposed to cut closer to the edge than I did, so I re cut carefully, or so I thought. I must have cut 1 too many threads and now the stitching thread has been cut in a couple of places with no way to fix it. I had to put it up. Kind of puts a damper on attempting more hardanger
I stitched more on that August blackwork pattern last night. I am not at all fond of the thread color I used for August, it's way too light and doesn't really show up very nice. Here's a really bad picture of it

Ah well, It's another SAL weekend on NeedleNook anyway so it's time to put August away weather it's done or not. Here's a really bad picture of it
It's the Critters SAL weekend on Needle Nook so I may tie that in with our Extra Special Fob exchange project.
I am not sure yet weather I like the April Stitching challange project on Jaye's Attic or not. I didn't vote for the April pattern. I'll have to wait to see if I have time to stitch it.
I do like the April Coloring Book page from Tranquil stitches and I may try to squeeze that in. I also signed up for the Needleroll Exchange so hopefully I will be able to mail it on May 31.
I do however NEED to get stitching on 2 other special Friendship exchanges. I know what I want to stitch and I have them kitted up, just need to stitch.

Last nights dinner was grilled fish, mushy peas, and colrslaw. We took plain fresh fish, put fresh dill, garlic & butter on, wrapped them in foil and grilled them on the gas grill outside, and they were delicious! I think tonight we're going to have vegetables & fruits again.

LaFemme Nikita starts tonight! Yes, I know it's an OLD programme and it's been over for years but one of the tv stations here is going to start from the first episode tonight. We have seen this show before but we like it and Alias is over.

Well, it's time to do the walk, then the areobic vacuuming & dusing, total bathroom clean. (WHICH ARE SOME OF THE THINGS I CAN DO BETTER NOW THAT I QUIT SMOKING)

Finished my hardanger project!

Ok I persevered and finished my first ever hardanger project. I have been wanting to try hardanger for years and now I have. The picot stitches were a bitch to do, they kept falling under stitches, falling out, not ending up where they are supposed to be etc, but I stuck with it. I don't really think they are actually picots but plain old knots but it works for me and the project is done. I don't know what I'm going to do with it but it's far from perfect.

WOO HOOOOOO, the Yankees won their home opener! YAY YAY YAY. Unfortunately I had to read about it on the internet this morning instead of being able to see it live.
Last night I stitched on a WIP/UFO, I started the August block of my blackwork project. I only got the outside border done but it's a start. Now I need to make a list of what NEEDS to be done this month and get busy stitching.
We had the last of the beef stir fry & rice so now we can have fruit & vegetables & salads again.
It's the weekend too! Nothing exciting planned either except DH's co-worker will be coming back from vacation with my new clip on magnifiers and mini clip on light. woo hoo!

Hello lurkers

Wow, I just got a weekly report from Site meter, 155 visits this week and a handful of comments. :(

Happy April

I know it's April Fools Day but I just don't have any funny stuff to add today. One year I called my son and told him I was at the bus terminal, come and get me. He got ALL excited and happy then I said April Fool. He then got REALLY pissed off and mad and told me that was not one bit funny at all.

The Yankees game was rained out yesterday so hopefully they will get to play today. Unfortunately it doesn't start until 7PM so I won't be able to "watch" it.

Since it's a new month, it must be time to clear my stitching table off and start a new month of stitching. I need to tally up the stitchathon counts for Needle Nook in the next couple days but give everyone a chance to post their counts first.
I need to decide on pretty fabric and matching floss to stitch an exchange project, a couple of floss colors for another gift project and make sure I have the right fabric for yet another exchange project. Unfortunately that doesn't fit in with my Selfish Stitching year theme on Needle nook but at the same time, I don't HAVE to do these projects.

Last night we had the last of the BBQ beef with ranch style beans and coleslaw. Tonight we'll clean up the vegetable stir fry & rice. Then hopefully we can go back to just vegetables or small salads.
