Smell that fresh mountain air!

Ahhh, it smells good, for a minute anyway until the pollen fills my nose and I sneeze. It's so green and nice here. There is this wet stuff leaking from the sky though today.

I made it home to the USA with no problem. Not at all fond of Frankfurt airport. My luggage did make it on the same flight and not a thing was broken, I am excited! My friends lamps made it! No problems at immigration or customs either.

It was very nice when I stepped out of the airport in Boston and it was cool. It felt good.
The house is fine, not leaking that I can see and it doesn't smell either.

Lots of mail & stash to go through.
I stopped at Walmart, Joanne's, Borders & the grocery store yesterday on my way home so I boosted the economy a bit.

My grandson is so cute, he is 2 1/2 and talks up a storm, my grandson who is 8 is also excited to have me home and can't wait to come see me, I can't wait either.

Ok. well back to unpacking and digging through stuff. Been up since 5AM

Very soon!

I will be across the Atlantic ocean in 24 hours! Woo hoo.

Wouldn't you know it. 1 week shy of nothing for 6 months and I start spotting. Well of course, I'm traveling tonight, so why not bring extra junk along. Geeze this makes me SO mad! 6 months! I was getting excited here.

36C at 3PM. Looks like it will be around 90F when I get on the plane at 1AM. It will be in the 70's when I land in Boston. Still only in the 40's at night at home. Brrrr, but it will be a relief.

Ok so, have a great day, & week.

3, count 'em, 3 more wailing hours as of this writing, one is comming up real soon.

TTFN, TTYL & ALL THAT

Bounce, bounce, bounce, ping, ping, that is me bouncing off the walls. AS of this writing, 7 more wailing hours. In 48 hours I will be in the air somewhere over the Atlantic ocean on my way to the USA!

DH came home from work today and said he has to go on a business trip on Thursday, he was supposed to leave TONIGHT, TUESDAY NIGHT! He can't tell them "no, my wife is leaving tomorrow" so we're pretending he couldn't get a flight until Thursday so he's staying home with me on Wednesday.

Having a mish mosh for supper, whatever is left in the fridge.

Woo hoo, can't wait to see my stitching friends Mary, Margaret, Velda and maybe meet more friends this summer!

I am signing off for now, don't know when I'll post again, gotta clean house, finish packing, hug my furbabies & DH, I go to the airport on Wednesday.

Memorial Day

This was posted on a seldom read board:
Personally I do not think of Memorial Day as a holiday, but as it's name implies a day of remembrance.
SOMEWHERE IN FRANCE.
Dedicated to the Scotch Lads Resting in France.
By J. Wesley Patterson of Amesbury.
"Somewhere in France” his letters read,
Somewhere in France, we know not where,
But we know our laddie was far awa’
That out lives were lonely, our hearts were sair.
When the King's call came for volunteers
Our laddie, sae brave, was of the first To offer himself;
though it broke our hearts,
We gave him freely but feared the worst.
Somewhere in France, sae strong and brave,
Where danger was thickest our boy was there;
For king and country he faced the foe,
Somewhere in France we knew not where.
When German hordes came rushing on
With poisonous gas and booming gun,
There fell amid the hellish din
One of auld Scotland’s bravest sons.
A German bullet pierced his heart
He fell; his live-blood stained the sod;
From somewhere in France our ain brafe boy
Was taken hame to dwell wi’ God.
From somewhere in France our noble lad
In nameless grave unmarked by stone,
Shall sleep until the Judgment Day,
When Christ shall come to claim his own.
Though hame is lonely and hearts are sair
We'll patiently wait for death and then
When a’ is o’er on that glad shore
From somewhere in France we'll meet again
------------------------------------------------
The following is a brief outline taken froman article in the Encarta Online Encyclopedia.
Memorial Day was first observed on May 30, 1868 for the purpose of decorating the graves of the American Civil War dead.
The holiday, originally called Decoration Day, is traditionally marked by parades, memorial speeches and ceremonies, and the decoration of graves with flowers and flags, in honor of the nation's armed services personnel killed in wartime.

My father served his country in WWII, 2 of my Uncles also served in WWII, 2 of my cousins were in the Army & Marine Corps and were in Vietnam, My DH was Marine from 1974-1981, he never went to war but because he entered JROTC in 1974, he is considered a Veteran.

Counting down

AS of this post, only 13 more wailing hours to go.
At least my suitcases are all packed, (Yes V, everything fit). Nothing else is done however. My stitching projects aren't packed, my exchange projects aren't packed, my carry on isn't packed, the house hasn't been scrubbed down. I just can't get into it anymore. Just get me to the airport, on the plane and get me home.

Took the last of the cats to the vets last night. WE took the baby Spot, he actually was pretty good, he got his shots and got checked to make sure they got all of his boy "bits" when he was neutered. He likes to back up against things, lift his tail, and try to spray, nothing comes out but he loves to try.
While we were there, the Customs & immigration people were there with a couple of their dogs. It made me so mad, one of the dogs looked so skinny, you could see his/her ribs. It looked like the dog had gotten hurt, most likely beaten by some asshole. These people have no clue how to treat these dogs, they are pure bred German Shepherds, beautiful dogs. I don't know if they are used to sniff the incomming or outgoing luggage at the airports, or if they are used to intimidate third world laborors comming into the kingdom.

I've cooked a bit, we had chicken fried steak with potato salad & 3 bean salad one night, Pancit Bihon another night, last night it was take out, tonight is grilled hot dogs, potato salad, 3 bean
salad and watermelon.

At 12:50 it is 36.4C

YOU HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE WHAT YOU CENSOR, YOU MAKE NO SENSE WHAT SO EVER.

HOW COME YOU DON'T CENSOR THE SAUDI STEPPFORD WIFE'S BLOG? OR OTHER SAUDI BLOGS. I KNOW YOU ARE READING THIS.

One last week

This time next week, I'll be running around last minute packing. I leave for the airport next Wednesday. This is my last weekend in hell so I need to make a list of the last minute things I need to get. As I type this, 38 more wailing hours to go.

AT 12:15 PM, it's 37.8C (or 100.0F)

I've become less and less visible on the message boards. I need my vacation so by not posting, I'm not tempted to say how I really feel. (as in shut up and quit whining)

I was not well the other day, major painful stomach or intestinal cramps through my whole stomach and abdomen which caused my pulse to beat so fast and my blood pressure to sky rocket and I couldn't catch my breath, I was dizzy. I don't know if it's something I ate or drank or my blood pressure just decided to climb. I took a second BP pill and felt much better. I was a little better on Tuesday. See, even thought I quit smoking (6 WHOLE MONTHS NOW!) my blood pressure is stilk sky high even thought I take my pill every day

We took the cat from hell to the vets on Sunday. She howled, yowled and screeched all the way across town, she didn't want me touching her through the cage, she tried to rock the cage and push it open with her butt. She ran up one side of DH and down the other, she dug her claws in and just howled and screeched and had those Cujo type eyes. She just wouldn't calm down one bit for the vet to look at any part of her. She just wiggled, fought every second. He had to put her in a "cat crusher" cage to give her a shot. It's a small cage and one side pulls towards the middle so it holds the cat against the side of the cage. I personally saw NOTHING wrong with this cage, it helped him give Annie Hellcat her shots.

I did finish side 1 of the biscornu I was working and started side 2. This side is being stitched on red linen with rayon floss. I updated my tripod photo album
http://bedounlady-ivil.tripod.com/index.html

This past week I fixed home made pizza, spinach noodles & fresh vegetables & tofu parmigiana (THANKS AGAIN Meggie)

Internet broke

Incase you dont' see me on, our internet is down. We buy cards each month, like phone cards and DH forgot to buy one the other day. He had to attatch this connection to his phone or hook it up somehow.

Mets beat the Yankees yesterday, no big surprise there. They just plain suck this year so far.

Gotta take kitty #3 to vets today for a general check up & shots.

Fixed pasta noodles with vegetables last night, tonight is chilled bean salad with grilled chicken.

What happened?

I saw this on Velda's blog so I'm posting it here:

1) Go to Wikipedia
2) In the search box, type your birth month and day but not the year.
3) List three events that happened on your birthday
4) List two important birthdays and one death
5) One holiday or observance (if any)

Ok, well October 21 not a whole lot happened

Births: (me!)

1833 - Alfred Nobel, Swedish inventor and founder of the Nobel Prize
1928 - Whitey Ford, American baseball player

Death (no one I had ever heard of died)
1995 - Maxene Andrews, American singer (The Andrews Sisters)

Holiday: (my birthday, isn't that a holiday?)
Apple Day

Another Saturday in Paradise**

** explanation is at the bottom of this post

LOLOL NKOTB continued. Ok, so my Travel Agent niece who was also a huge NKOTB fan who was going to marry Joey 15 years ago is still a huge fan, I am rotflmao. She wants to to to NJ for their concert in Sept. That would be neat but I think that is the day my DH gets home on vacation. I was kidding about watching the today show yesterday, she wasn't, OMG!

No stitching yesterday, I have 2 weeks to get exchanges finished.
Speaking of exchanges, I am in a couple. A needleroll exchange and a Summer Sizzling exchange on Tranquil Stitchers, and 2 other personal exchanges. So far that is all I am doing this year.

1:00PM and it's 37C again. They did get the a/c fixed but now if we try to lower it, it breaks again so inside it is 23C, (74) and feels chilly. It only dips "down" to 80F at night.

I haven't been on my cross stitch boards lately, I read every couple days but I just don't post. A couple of them are almost dead quiet, hardly anything happening, a couple others, the new members are just way too whiny. Apparently that certain designer from a couple weeks ago has gone into hiding again and won't show her face. A LOT more orders are missing and she isn't responding, hmmmmmmm. More "family crisis"?

According to the guy who we have contracted to build our garage at our house, the snow finally all melted from our back yard only a couple weeks ago. I guess that is a draw back to living in a thick, tree covered mountain area. We couldn't get satellite tv if we had to, there is so space to point the dish that has a clear, unobstructed view of the sky, too many tall trees around.

I've been e-baying again. Several years ago, when I started to become a severe cross stitch addict, I was winning at least 5 items a week, all cross stitch items. I quit e-baying after a couple years because I found out I could buy all those items from online shops at just about the same prices. I sold a few items as well. I quit checking e-bay because every time I looked, it had changed and I was lost. So now that DH has been e-baying buying Harley parts I was browsing and won several Tupperware items that I need replacements for. Sheesh, need to stay away from there. That is what happens when you were a dealer 20+ years ago and the stuff is breaking now.

Last night was home made pizza and it was good! Tonight is pasta with fresh sauteed vegetables.

**-Saturday HERE is like a Monday in the real world, Saturday is the start of the work week here.
Speaking of here, some asshole pervert called my cellphone this morning. I answered, he spoke in his native language, I asked him to speak English, what did he want, who was he looking for. The asshole wanted to know my name and said he was looking for sexy love. I hung up, he called back 4 more times but I didn't answer. DH is always at work when this happens.

OOohhh, screech, scream, yell, swoon!

New Kids On The Block are back! AHHHHHHHHHH, scream, yell, holler, screech, swoon, NOT! So that crowd of 50,000 screaming teenagers that was at that concert that night in Saratoga Springs are all in the Today Show square today, except they are adults now with screaming kids of their own. So does that mean I am rich now? I still have the original CD's, a sleeping bag, trading cards, posters, 2 ticket stubs from a concert, t-shirts, a hat, and several other misc items. LOLOL Darn, can't get in touch with my DD either to tell her they are on.

At 3:30PM it is 36.8C, eeewwww. At least the a/c is working. Not great but it's working.

I had to fix a quick salad last night since I didn't want to heat up the kitchen with the oven on for the pizza. Everything is all sliced and diced for tonight's pizza.

NO stitching yesterday either.

Thursday, May 15, 2008

Oh hum, another weekend.

ARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGG for 2 hours now the A/c has been out, we called twice. It's 96F outside and 82 inside. It's miserable. I'm not going to fix supper and heat up the house like this!

37C at 4PM - roughly 99F. HOT! Nasty for shopping today.

3 1/2 hours wandering around in the mall & grocery shopping. No interesting finds today.

I'm fixing home made pizza for supper

No stitching yesterday.

It's Wednesday

UPDATE: BETTER HURRY AND SIGN UP FOR THE HELGA MANDL SAL ON HER YAHOO GROUP. It starts May 20! If you're not a member, you are going to need a password to get the SAL charts.

Woo Hoo, another weekend.
34.8C at noon it was hotter

I stitched again last night, 1/2 ribbon to go and the top part is done. The other side will be done with silk threads.

I've been browsing e-bay. I found that a certain size Tupperware brand container is GREAT for floss. Unfortunately I only have 1 of the size that I need here so I'm looking to buy more. Unfortunately the size that I measured my container as does not match up with anything in their current line. I've e-mailed Tupperware to see what they say.
UPDATE! I won two of those containers. No wonder I haven't been able to find them, they're discinued but I found some that are NEW, RARE, LOLOL.

Supper last night was a salad with cooked chicken breast, not too bad. Don't know what I'm having tonight.

Aint it amazin'

Look what happens when I sit down and stitch:
BEFORE & AFTER stitching for 3 1/2 hours

This week is the stitchathon at Cross stitch crazy but I'm not participating. There are too many ladies that think this is a diehard contest and if you don't stitch 1000 stitches or more a day then your nobody. I used to participate to see how many I could stitch, NOT to beat everyone on the planet then laugh. I'll probably stitch more tonight.
I fixed left over chinese food for supper last night, don't know what is for dinner tonight.
I was playing around with Amtrak time table, $152 round trip to go from Boston to Utica, NY plus it takes 10 hours. No wonder people don't take the train, it's longer than it is to drive. $648 to fly from Manchester NH to Albany.
Then I played around with another map. Picked out a driving route from home to Kennebunkport Maine. There's a Popeys's chicken place at a rest stop on I95. That would be good for a day's enterntainment.
Everyone needs to run over to Helga Mandl's Yahoo group and sign up for her new SAL. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wXSw/ The chart will be released on May 20 and it will be a set of 4 season charts. Everyone needs to over load her board like everyone does the SanMan board and snatch and run with the patterns.
35.2 at 3PM, it's hot.

Ramblings on Monday

Took Kitty #2 to vets. Poor Ms Roxie, the Vet confirmed she is 100% deaf, about 80% blind, she has 1 tooth and she has arthritis. Other than that she is doing well, he said there is no reason to put her down yet, just keep her comfortable. I'm just tired of her peeing all over the place.

I didn't cook for Mother's day, we went to the food court in the mall and I got a delicious Thai chicken wrap sandwich. It was good DH bought me a couple of patio table torch lights (not flashlights) the kind you put oil in to keep bugs away. I am going to take those home and see how they work.

I did call my mother, she is doing OK, has to go for a mammogram this week and see about having a tumorous cyst that she has had for years removed. I hope everything is OK.

My sister is single again, her divorce was final last week, after over 35 years of marriage. My niece has lost over 110 lbs after her gastric bypass surgery.

I did stitch a little bit yesterday on my Vee&Co patriotic biscornu. I am stitching it on 32 count Millennium blue linen with DMC variegated threads. The hard part about stitching this one is that I started it too close to the edge of the fabric and it won't fit all the way on the q-snap right and I can't stitch in hand.

Sunday, May 11, 2008

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's day to everyone who celebrates today.

I stitched on my Vee&Co patriotic biscornu Saturday night.

IT's hot.

I fixed hot & sour soup & tofu vegetable stir fry.

Friday, May 9, 2008

Another busy Thursday

We went to malls & shops we haven't been to in years, it sure brought back memories. At one of the shops I just HAD to buy these, so it's official, I'm the queen.

Actually, they are little hair combs but I thought they were a hoot!

at 1:50PM it's 34.7C (94.3F) down from 97F at 1PM

3 weeks to go! I can't wait!

One of my close friends could use lots of hugs, good vibes and prayers right now. She and her family are having a bit of a rough patch right now and need lots of good thoughts. I have told her that she has all the thoughts and hugs from me that she can use right now. If I could be there in person for her, I would. I hope things get better quickly!

Last night we had these "beef" sausage kebab bits & some mixed bean salad. The salad was good but the "beef" sausage bits tasted nasty. I don't know what was in them but they were ewwwwww. DH didn't even eat all of his.

More tidbits & SBQ

While we were at this new super-mega mall we kept hearing this beeping and honking. We looked around and there was this boat shaped motorized vehicle driving around the mall. There were 3 boat "cars" attatched to the back with adults riding in it. I laughed. I don't know wheather this takes people to other ends of the mall or if you just ride around in it. From the outside the mall looks like a departure terminal at a HUGE airport.

I also got a new digital camera on Thursday. My old one just quit working all of a sudden.

Another thing to be pissed off about, for some reason I can't get to the Passione Ricamo site. It goes there and all I get is a blank white screen. NOTHING shows up no matter how long the page is there. No matter what area of the site I go to, the main page, the freebie page, nothing. I just don't get it.

Here is the Stitcher's blog question from a couple weeks ago.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SBQ: Blends - April 23 2008

How do you handle blended threads? Do you kit the blends up before you start a piece, or do you grab what colors you need and blend when the need arises? If you kit up the blends beforehand, how do you store them? Do you have another option for blends to share?

I thread my needle as I go, using the 2 separate colors then I just but them back with their original color. I try not to use blends very often.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SBQ Heirlooms April 30, 2008

Do you have any pieces that you would liked passed on to future generations as family heirlooms?

The only project I bet that will be saved is my L&L Guardian Angel. Maybe there are a few other pieces that my family will save but I don't know.

We went to a new mall on Thursday. We walked 3 1/2 hours browsing and didn't see 1/2 of it. AT one entrance there were 3 of those electric scooter carts. I stood there for quite awhile just debating should I? What would they do if a woman was on one of those since driving is forbidden, illegal, against the law and just not allowed in this country. Does that go for those scooters too?

We started out going to my LNS for some beads, buttons, trim and fabric. I got buttons & trim and a few skeins of floss. The floss here comes from France with different labels on than American floss. That problem with DMC from last week will not affect the American floss.

Friday I couldn't sit still, I kept jumping up and down straightening, cleaning, doing laundry etc.
Thursday we had Popeye's chicken Friday we had the left over slop from Tuesday.

I finally got that floss order from January.

I found out Friday that one of my kitties is going blind. Poor Roxie is deaf, only has 2 teeth, walks with a limp and now she's going blind. I don't know how old she is but we've had her 9 years. We got her from a friend who was leaving and couldn't take her with them.

I haven't stitched since Wednesday, I need to get stitching.
