A new week

Some people really need to get a backbone and grow up, either that or stop whining on a public message board. It's amazing how you can make a comment and it gets totally blown all out of proportion, upside down and inside out to say the totally opposite thing of what you said. And then you are expected to sit with your face glued to that board all day and wait for replies to what you said so you can reply back. Sheesh, get a life! I posted on that 123 board back in November that I was going to quit smoking, 3 people replied good luck, you can do it, etc. Ok fine, I didn't post anymore, no big deal to me, I was taking Chatix anyway and I found things to keep me busy during the day, yes it was a HUGE struggle, YES I still feel the urge to smoke, but I get past it. I have since posted in the past few months good luck and support to others on that board who have posted that they were trying to quit and they didn't make a big deal out of it, but this chicka thinks she needs to make a HUGE deal out of nothing, but then she makes a huge deal out of everything.

DH & I had to go meet a friend this past Thursday so we went browsing in the mall. I walked into this "stuff store" and found the PERFECT Arabesque style hanging lamps for V's house! I fell in love with them and started taking pictures so I could send them to her. Well this guy who worked there came along and wanted to know why I was taking pictures, what for. I tried to explain that it was for a friend's house decoration, to ask her which one she liked, I wasn't going to buy them if she didn't like they. Well are you going to come back here and buy them? he asked. Anyway Velda loved them so sometime this week or next weekend we will have to go back. I did find a pair of purple flip flops in another store that I bought and I HATE shopping for and buying shoes but now when we go back and get the lamps, I might buy a couple more pair in different colors.

Well that hardanger project is ruined. I went back and read that message board again that I joined to help with the project and read that i was supposed to cut closer to the edge than I did, so I re cut carefully, or so I thought. I must have cut 1 too many threads and now the stitching thread has been cut in a couple of places with no way to fix it. I had to put it up. Kind of puts a damper on attempting more hardanger
I stitched more on that August blackwork pattern last night. I am not at all fond of the thread color I used for August, it's way too light and doesn't really show up very nice. Here's a really bad picture of it

Ah well, It's another SAL weekend on NeedleNook anyway so it's time to put August away weather it's done or not. Here's a really bad picture of it
It's the Critters SAL weekend on Needle Nook so I may tie that in with our Extra Special Fob exchange project.
I am not sure yet weather I like the April Stitching challange project on Jaye's Attic or not. I didn't vote for the April pattern. I'll have to wait to see if I have time to stitch it.
I do like the April Coloring Book page from Tranquil stitches and I may try to squeeze that in. I also signed up for the Needleroll Exchange so hopefully I will be able to mail it on May 31.
I do however NEED to get stitching on 2 other special Friendship exchanges. I know what I want to stitch and I have them kitted up, just need to stitch.

Last nights dinner was grilled fish, mushy peas, and colrslaw. We took plain fresh fish, put fresh dill, garlic & butter on, wrapped them in foil and grilled them on the gas grill outside, and they were delicious! I think tonight we're going to have vegetables & fruits again.

LaFemme Nikita starts tonight! Yes, I know it's an OLD programme and it's been over for years but one of the tv stations here is going to start from the first episode tonight. We have seen this show before but we like it and Alias is over.

Well, it's time to do the walk, then the areobic vacuuming & dusing, total bathroom clean. (WHICH ARE SOME OF THE THINGS I CAN DO BETTER NOW THAT I QUIT SMOKING)

March 21

Dad update e-mail from my sister:

Dad did not have as good a day yesterday. He is still coughing up blood.but not as much or as often. They are going to do an endoscopy sometime today to see if it coming from the upper GI tract. A lung specialist saw him yesterday while we were there and they are going to start some respiratory therapy on him. He still has no appetite. The chocolate I left him Mon. night was still there yesterday. It didn't appeal to him. He must be sick. He is still getting 2 different antibiotics intravenously every 6 hours. Hopefully the tests today will give us some answers.

Then my DH says he's gotta go away for a couple of days on business, leaving Saturday evening. So I guess I have to go to the grocery store this weekend. Anyone want to come over and keep me company? 3 days of not having to worry about cooking, WOOOO HOOOO!

My sinuses still hurt, but not as bad as yesterday, that attack just came out of nowhere and hit me like a truck. At least the kids have been quiet today.

I finished another project this morning. It's a flip flop ornament by The Cross-Eyed Cricket, there is a whole series of them. I stitched this with Terry on the Needle Nook board. She sent me the lovely fabric to stitch it on. Now I just need to finish the ornament.

My Works in Progress

I'll see if this works. I put the wip picture next to the finish project picture on some of them.
I have no earthly clue when I started this one, but I think it's been around since 1999. It's small and I could finish it up in no time. It's a Mill Hill bead kit

This one was started in either 2003 or 2004. It was my "Take to the beach" project, I'd stitch on that rather than take one of my "good" projects to the beach when we went on weekends. It's supposed to be an insert for those stupid take apart acrylic mugs and it's stitched on vinyl weave. It's got a mat to go with it but I never started on that.

This is a project from back in 2003, a Christmas Mystery SAL by Pam Kellogg. It's got a ton of metallic floss and beads in it. It's stitched on 28 count opalescent fabric that I dyed black. This is one that I would like to actually finish. It started out as a SAL but I never kept up with it.

Here we have Liberty Angel, another just HAD to stitch project by Leisure Arts. I think the chart was also my first e-bay win too. It's Liberty Angel by Leisure Arts stitched on white opalscent fabric that I think I dyed some strange color. I started this one April 15, 2003. I picked it up again last year and noticed that I had started the project on the wrong fabric thread so I had to figure out how to straighten it up. I was NOT going to start this over! So I stitched 1 row over 1 thread and got it back even. I would LOVE to finish this one in 2007 too but there is a shitload of white, ecrus in it, not to mention backstitching.

This is one I started in an airport somewhere in the world I think in 2004. It's a cute kitty bookmark kit by Pinn Stitch. This would make a good beach project or a project to take with me on planes.

This is another book mark kit from Sudbury House I started on Sept 28, 2006. I love the bright colors in this one. I wanted to take this as a "Stitch on the plane/airport" project so I started it before I left. I never did stitch any on the plane either so here it sits, but this is in a special project tote so all I have to do is grab the tote and off I go.

This is a real pain in the ass project, it's a kit from Dimensions that has all those stitches hanging outside the backstitch lines. It looks so messy so I am trying to stitch fractional stitches instead of whole stitches to make it look neater. I had this thing for flip flops, they look so summery and tropical sort of. I started this Oct. 24 2006 and had to put it away before it went flying across the room.

This is my latest WIP, Scooba Dooba by Raise the Roof Designs. I decided at the last minute to stitch this for my husband who is an avid Scuba diver. I started it, had the sea snake and the waves done then realized I had cut the fabric too small and there was no way to fix it, so I had to start it all over again. This is as far as I got. I took the picture off the leaflet cover, wrapped it in a piece of paper with IOU written on it, put it in an envelope and gave it to my husband for Christmas. He says he likes it. I hope to finish it this year. It's stitched on 28 count white evenweave with Weeks and GAST flosses.

Here is my "What the hell was I thinking" project. Lizzie Kate's 2005 Flip It Stamps. One of my boards was doing this as a SAL in 2006 so I joined. I thought it would be neat to stitch them on one long bell pull. That was a BAD idea, that thing is LONG. I stitched one a month until June, I didn't stitch anymore until I came back from vacation in September. I still have 3 months left to put on. It's stitched on 16 count aida banding with GAST and Weeks floss. The sides of it are filthy. I try to be so very careful to wash my hands every time I sit down to stitch but it's still dirty. I don't know how I am going to clean it since it's stitched with overdyed floss.

That's all that I could find, but I know there are a couple more around somewhere.

I hope you haven't fallen asleep looking at these. I'll try to remember to post pictures when/IF I stitch on any of these.
