It was a sad day in my family on Saturday. My uncle died, he was my mother's only living sibling. He was a diabetic with kidney problems and heart problems. He died peacefully in the hospital with his family by his side. He leaves my Aunt, 3 cousins and 1 grown grandson, 2 step grandchildren. His funeral is Wednesday but unfortunately I can't make it. There isn't a hotel or motel room available in the area, I would have to rent a car, drive to NY, find a place to stay, drive back on Thursday, turn the rental car in, pick up another rental car for the family trip back to NY on Saturday for my niece's wedding, then drive back home on Tuesday. I just can't do it. My cousin told me he will be buried in his fireman's uniform and there will be a fire truck from his dept in the funeral cortage. That just sent goose bumps all through me. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and my mother.

Sunday was my sweet husband's 50th birthday but I couldn't be there with him to celebrate so I'll have to make him a cake. I did call him and sang Happy Birthday.

It's been raining off and on every day for almost a week now. It's a good thing though since I live in the mountains surrounded by woods. Need to keep the woods and trees wet so they don't catch fire when it gets hot and dry.

I still haven't done any stitching but I did get my stash all organized and entered into a data base on my computer so now I know what I have and what flosses and fabric to order for what projects.
