Another year ends

Another year over. Started out ok then went to shit, hopefully 2009 will be better. No plans for tonight, it's Wednesday so it's the weekend, Happy Hour. I don't go but I'm sure DH will.
It was also the New Year here, 1410. Yeah, it's 1410 alright, might as well be the way these morons think.

I finished another WIP yesterday. I finished An American Christmas , it was a freebie from Eterna Silk & Ladybug Lane designs. IT's stitched with Eterna Silk threads on 32 count opalescent evenweave from Silkweaver. Not sure of the color but of course the picture doesn't reflect the true colors.
So, how would YOU finish this one? Flat fold? no sew cube done in CHRISTMAS colors? No sew cube done in PATRIOTIC colors? tuck hanger of some sort? Frame? Pillow door hanger thingie?

IT's dark, grey, humid and overcast today, if I didn't know better I'd say it was going to rain.

Really bummed out

I was really bummed out, I knew I gained weight in the past month but I didn't think it was 6 lbs! I just want to cry. I walked & exercised I watched what I ate, NO cookies, NO sweets and yet I gained 6 lbs, I can feel it and see it. My blood sugar levels are so far out of whack and I am all puffed up too. I had my dr appt Saturday night, all things considered it went well except for the weight gain. So I guess I will sit down, make up menus and exercise plans and stick to it the best I can.
I also have an appt (at that same fancy 5 star hospital) for January 3 with an endocrinogolist.

I did stitch some more on my Patriotic ornament last night.

I fixed my turkey salad burritos for dinner, I just love those.

83F at 1:45PM, it's so nice now that it's cooler.

Ok, back to my depressing pity party

Saturday, December 27, 2008

UGH, bad me. I ate something I should'nt have and now my blood sugar level is WAY high, and I'm all puffed up. I have a dr. appt. tonight but it's not a diabetes dr. I did do my walk this morning though and I'm drinking tons of water. It could have been this mornings oatmeal with 2 tsp peanut butter, raisins & eggnog. It was SOOOOOO good!

It's winter here! woo hoo! It was 76F when I walked at 9:30 this morning instead of 84! And at 1:30 it's only 82 instead of 88.

Geeze, I tried to do a spell check and every single word was highlighted as being wrong.

I haven't stitched in a few days so I guess I need to get back there.

Remembering today

This quote is from the Lion

Today is the anniversary of the Tsunami in Asia when so many lost their lives. We were there in Phuket, Thailand just 3 weeks before having a wonderful time. I just hate to think how many funny, entertaining, sweet people we met were lost. I know the resort we stayed at was devistated, it was a beautiful beachfront place.

We had a nice Christmas, only 2 friends were here for dinner. I cooked turkey & stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes that no one ate, carrots, green beans, vegetable mold, cranberry sauce pecan pie, pumpkin pie, whiskey cake(I didn't make this one, I opened the package I brought back from the states). I forgot the waldorf salad that was in the fridge. Now I have tons of leftovers.
DH got me a new flash drive since I lost the cap for my other one, a Sony MP3 player!!! a new soft yoga/exercise mat (YEAH! the old one is rough on the hip bones) 3 KG weights since the 2KG ones are getting light.
I also got to talk to both our kids, woke up my poor DS who had his one day to sleep in. DD was excited over her gifts which made me happy.

I didn't finish my American Christmas project but I'll still work on it.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate.

Eggs & onions

LOLOL, reading your comments on eggs & onions. Well I forgot to get eggs when we went shopping the other night and the only "cheap" onions I could find were the potent red onions. The white onions they had were the American imported at $7.00 a kilo, I think not. So DH said he would go to the store to get the eggs. Now here, a dozen eggs in a container are hard to find sometimes. You can find flats of 2 1/2 dozen eggs on every street corner but what am I going to do with 2 1/2 dozen eggs? So a lot of times you have to drive around to the different grocery stores to find a simple dozen eggs without all the chicken shit all over them. Same with cottage cheese. I haven't seen cottage cheese in any store since May. It's just not there or anywhere. DH just happened to "see the white local onions" so he picked some up. The purple onions are really REALLY strong.

I did my walk this morning, I wore my "Santa Hat" but the blinking light row on the top front didn't work. While walking I guess i gave the foregin third country national workers(TCNs) a smile. Several of them stopped, grinned and said Merry Christmas Madam. Then the security truck drove by, they are "locals", as in the military security guys who are NOT foreigners. They slowed down and looked at me, nodded their heads (unusual for them to recogonize a woman) and smiled and drove on. I met them further on down the road and they smiled and nodded again. So at least I gave someone something to smile about today.

The cats don't seem to be bothered by the tree, they looked at it and didn't get a closer look.

So today I have a pecan pie, pumpkin pie, MAYBE apple pie, cranberry sauce to make, plus do the vacuuming & clean up. HAHAHAHAHA, sounds like an all nighter to me. Right now I have some smelly wax stuff burning in a couple of tart burners, smells like pine trees.

The satellite movie channels are having "Special Seasonal" movies for 2 days ONLY. Well pardon me, please don't go out of your way and heaven forbid should you run "Seasonal" tv shows for more than 2 days. Kiss my ass. I guess it's better than none.

Gotta go, start cooking or something.

Ok, he won

When DH got home from his afternoon run, the conversation started something about the christmas tree. I have a tiny, scrawny tree that my cross stitch ornaments are on, I kind of like it. I said it's right there & pointed to the tree. He said no, the other one, the tree. I said there's no room, he said he'd help me clean off the side table. I said the cats will knock it over. He said we'll find someplace. I said yeah, whatever. He had to go out to get some eggs & onions so I went and got the tree (with one hand mind you) grabbed some christmas fabric, put the fabric down on an end table, put the tree down, plugged it in and there it is. That's all, just the tree. The tree is only about 3 feet tall if that. The lights & ornaments are always on it, I pick it up and put it back in the closet upstairs. We used to have a huge 7 foot tree but when the kids left and don't come back, I gave the tree to some friends. I'll post a picture later.

So there you have it, he won. Oh, and he was gone about 2 hours for "eggs & onions" when there are 2 major grocery stores within 20 minute drive. At least he didn't wait until Christmas Eve to do his shopping, LOLOLOL.

Don't forget to track Santa: http://www.noradsanta.org/en/home.html

HAPPY HANUKKAH to my fellow readers! I would like to wish you and your families eight healthy, happy days and nights!

Crank up those loud speakers why don't you? Yep, it's that time of year, those paranoid moronic religious zealots have cranked up the speakers on the wailing towers just to remind us that there is NO CHRISTMAS here and they will drown out our music.

I didn't stitch yesterday
The sandstorm seems to be gone today butg it's still breezy out. 86F at 12:30PM.

I did my grocery shopping yesterday for the meal on Thursday. I'm having Turkey, stuffing made with whole grain bread, nasty mashed potatoes & gravy, sweet potatoes, carrots, green beans with roasted red bell peppers, vegetable mold, cranberry sauce (I bought 1 more box of frozen cranberries) pecan, pumpkin & maybe apple pie.

DH's presents are all wrapped but still no tree up (YEAH ME!) Let's see if he says anything or even notices.

ACKKKKKK Sandstorm

For the second day in a row we've had major sandstorms. All day, the sky is a eerie beige-y/orange. I'll trade your snowstorm for a sandstorm.

I actually made up 2 ornaments today. I finished off that beaded stocking and the Be Merry thing. I just put backing on the stocking and hung it but put a piece of fabric & a little bit of stuffing in it. Still stitching on my American Christmas ornament.

I did do my walk this morning and that tiny little kitty is still alive, they both are.

Sunday, December 21, 2008

Things don't feel right again and I know I'm going to explode before too much longer. Technology has changed a lot since the last episode and I have no idea where to start looking.

It's windy, humid & overcast today but I'll still have to do my walk. I can't just sit here any longer, I have to be moving.

Saturday, December 20, 2008

The connection is better but still sucks.

I did my 2 lap, 1 mile walk this morning. Felt good but it was soooo very sad. It is mating season for the 1,000 or so cats on the compound and there is a fresh batch of tiny baby kittens too. I saw 2 tiny kittens, must be only a few days old laying together. I know one of them is dead because it didn't move when I walked closer. They are in a fenced in "substation" on the main road beside houses. Mama is there but she isn't cuddled with them. I wish I could have gotten in there and picked them up and brought them home, but I wish I could do that with the pure black cat I saw too.

I fixed my Lasagna Primavera last night, vegetable lasagna, it was good!

I stitched on my American Ornament last night. Maybe I can get it done this year. This is a before picture and a picture of where I left off last night.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

This internet is so fucked up again today. I don't know if it is that stupid firefox thing or what but nothing wants to load on the first try. This is the second time I am adding this!

WOO HOO! The Cranberry boat came in! The grocery store had the frozen cranberries from Australia today so I bought 3 boxes and a box of frozen blueberries. I know they won't be any left by tonight. Also got the turkey for next Thursday. Nothing else in the line of holiday items in the store this year. Kind of depressing.

Today I am working on my American Christmas ornament. I started that one a few years ago.

Thursday, December 18, 2008

It's finished!

Finally that damned beaded stocking is DONE! I started the frappin' thing in 1999 I think and finished it up today. Thank you to my friend Kristin for telling me how to do the beading when it is so close together like that, it worked! All I need to do is put the backing on and tie a ribbon or something on it to hang it with.

Now on to something else, not sure what yet though.

DH installed this mozilla firefox thing so I'm testing it out. So far it doesn't like my SanMan board and won't let me log in on Firefox so I have to use IE for that.

I didn't get any stitching done yesterday.

Gotta sit down and make a meal list for next Thursday, I have no clue what to fix.

That's about it for this exciting day.

MQOTD

Beading sucks!

I have been beading away on this and somehow even after following the pattern carefully it is off. I think the white beads are a bit larger than the other beads so I can't fit all of them in. There is supposed to be a pattern there but I can't see one because they are so squished together.

No motivational quote yet, the site does an update on Tuesday night but it is Wednesday morning my time so it won't be working for another few hours yet.

I did walk yesterday, talked to DD & my birthday boy. He was excited.

Had some yummy oatmeal today, I put a little bit of peanut butter and a tiny bit of cinnamon and some raisins in it. It was so good. Last night I made a chicken "pot pie" recipe from one of my diabetic cookbooks. I used my whole grain biscuit mix in place of "bisquick" and it was nasty. I think it was the parsley I put in it though or the fact that there isn't real buttermilk here so I have to make my own and that could have made it nasty tasting. The chicken slop under the biscuits was good it was the biscuits that were horrible.

Tuesday, December 16, 2008

I love the picture on this one.

I got more stitching done on my Mill Hill stocking last night, still a long way from being done though even for a little thing.

Not much else happening today.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TY!

Today is my oldest grandson's birthday, he is 9 years old! I can't believe he is 9! I was there when he was born, it was a bit traumatic, we almost lost him and his mom too but today he is a fine, sweet 9 year old! I have only been with him for 1 frikkin birthday and that really sucks. I hope he has a GREAT birthday! It's so depressing because I was HOME to celebrate his birthday 1 year ago today.

I don't know what happened when I logged in but it told me that my account didn't exist. No matter how many times I retyped my user name & password, it said the account didn't exist. I don't know if someone hacked it or what but I changed the password.

As much as I cry, bawl and hurt at this time of year for not being able to be home, I am glad I am not home right now. I would probably be sitting in the dark with no heat. A major ice storm hit New England and many are without power right now. I called my son in New Hampshire yesterday and they are fine. They have power but ALL the surrounding towns don't! Our daughter in Maine is fine too so that is a relief.

I finally got up the ambition to walk again yesterday. While DH was home for the holiday, I did't do much like I should have so now I have to make up for it. I found those 2 lbs I lost too so now I have to make them go away.

I have been stitching again, I am trying to finish up a 9 year old UFO Mill Hill bead kit. Hopefully I can finish before too much longer. This is what I did, starting picture is on the right, what I have done so far on the left:

Remember all those planes I talked about last month? The ones going over one after the other non stop? Well they are all back, picking up all those hajji's they dropped off last month. I hope they get every last one of them and get them the hell outta here so I can go out shopping.

Well, I'm off to do something creative.

MQOTD

I like this one!

Saturday, December 13, 2008

The slow internet connection was due to DH's constant downloading and it was making the entire network slow to a snail pace. All those movies & music crap. So I may not be on much.

Not much else happening. Gotta get back to stitching.

MQOTD & Finished ornament

I finally finished that stupid October Scarecrow Flip it stamp last night. That seemed to take forever. I also started & finished a little Ornament on perforated paper from Ozark Sampler. I am making another one on a different color and plan to stitch them back to back. Here is the ornaments I made. One is done on black perforated paper and the other one is on white. I backstitched them back to back.

Ok, well, this connection is pissing me off. It takes 5-10 minutes to load anything.

Thursday, December 11, 2008

I suppose this quote may be true, but I've been healthy and not happy and been happy but not healthy.

The internet connection lately sucks big time. I have no clue what the hell is wrong but it takes forever to do anything so I haven't been on much or tried to do anything online. Facebook is so fucked up and it totaly messes up the rest of my browser windows so I haven't been there much except for today.

I stitched again for a couple hours last night, almost done with that October stamp. I think I may have my stitching feeling back. It may have been my stitching corner was uncomfortable for me. Since we re arranged the living room it seems to be a tiny bit more comfortable but I still am not fond of the arrangement.

I had left over Indian food for dinner last night and my blood count was WAY out in space. 208 actually. Not supposed to be that high. The food was good though. I've also drank more water in the past couple days and I am swelled up, I pee all night. Since loosing this 20 lbs, I don't pee myself every time I sneeze, cough, laugh & move, that is the best part.

I did walk on Wednesday and got on the treadmill a few times during the day. I am only up to 2 minutes, it's not as easy as I thought it would be.

No Christmas crap up at all. I still have my Thanksgiving stuff up and I really don't care if I put any Christmas shit up or not. Oh yeah, I moved my Lizzie Kate Flip It Christmas piece to the door way. I may or may not use my Chrismtas coffee mugs, my cross stitch ornaments are ALWAYS on display. I wish I still had my nativity here but I don't.

Wednesday, December 10, 2008

So sad, it was one year ago on this Wednesday (today) that we were on our way home for Christmas & New Years. It hurts, I have no desire to decorate.

I stitched again yesterday, woo hoo, 3 days in a row. I sat for at least 6 hours in the past couple of days and did a "measly' 300 stitches, nothing at all compared to 1500+ a day that some people do. I am determined to finish that stupid LK October scarecrow.

I got up the ambition to walk today again. DH bought Indian food (YUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMM) last night so I HAD to do extra walking today. No records set today.

Trying to get some shopping done but my connection sucks and is so damn slow, it pisses me off.

Tuesday, December 9, 2008

Oh hum

Yep, another day in paradise. IT's 88F at 1:30 PM, sunny blue sky.
I stitched on my LK October stamp yesterday. Woo hoo.
Sorry, not much happening.

Happy Eid! & I finished a project!!

Eid Mubarak to eveyone. This is the Eid al-Adha holiday that comes with the Hajj. For more info, google Eid al-Adha.

Woo Hoo! I finished my Be Merry project! I also found out that if you change the fabric from the count the pattern suggests, and it comes with a button pack, the putton back is proportioned to the fabric count listed on the chart, therefore when you change the fabric count the buttons look stupid. The project is Be Merry by Shepherd's Bush and I stitched it on 32 count Champagne Cocktail opalescent from Enchanted Fabrics. I had to change the size of a couple buttons and substitute a couple of others. YOu can't see the white snowflakes or the fuzzy white santa beard either. I should have stuck with the 10 count Sand Tula fabric it called for.

I didn't walk today, I just didn't want to. I want to stitch.

Other events of today

I wanted to have a separate post from Pearl Harbor day

WOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO! 19:35! That was my mile walk today! I did 27 minutes worth of walking then did a couple minutes cool down on the treadmill then did 15 minutes worth of stability ball work out and I feel good! I even remembered to check my blood glucose before I went out. It wasn't low dammit. If my scale was right this morning, I am at my original goal weight! Geeze, that only took 5 months, 2 months longer than I had hoped.

I didn't stitch last night but I WILL stitch today.

The weather has cooled off nicely here, nice breeze most of the time.

A day that will live in Infamy

December 7, 1941. Today is the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, USA. My thoughts and prayers are with those and their families who lost loved ones that day.

Today is also the anniversary of when my 2 kids & I landed in the land that time forgot. Friday December 7, 1984, 24 years ago.

Saturday, December 6, 2008

A new week

Another week started in paradise.

I did my walk this morning and it was nice out. the temps are dropping and it was 75 at 9:30AM and a slight breeze. Yep, it's winter. I did my walk in 20:15! Woo Hoo! Tried to jumprope but the girls didn't like bouncing all over the place.

I stitched last night for 2 hours! Woo Hoo to that! I am almost done with Be Merry, just have to finish up his beard with fuzzy stuff and put the buttons on. I think I'll make a little "door" pillow. The monthly stitchathon starts at Cross Stitch crazy but I don't participate anymore. One particular member ALWAYS posts 1100+ stitches EVERY DAY, kind of blows my momentum to post my measly 200 stitches so I don't bother. I wish they would say to post before pictures and after pictures and only count cross stitching, needlework and NOT crochet & knitting. Oh well.

This is my reflection weekend. On December 6, 1984 my 2 young children & I got on a plane in a blinding snow storm that had JFK & 1/2 the East coast almost snowed in and left the real world behind. We landed in the land that time forgot on December 7 at 4:20PM, minus our luggage which we got the following day. 24 years later I'm still in hell.

Friday, December 5, 2008

IT's Friday

That means Sunday to me. Still not much going on here. SSDD

MQOTD

Just in case you were wondering, this is from the SparkPeople site about the quotes:

"Post This On Other Sites.

We encourage you to post this quote on other websites,

It's the weekend here, not much happening.

For those wondering about my face book, I don't know what is up with Facebook, it's settings, it's bandwidth or whatever, but it very often locks up my computer, runs so VERY slow & sluggish and it causes all my other browser windows to pause and not load when Facebook loads. So it's not really a lot of fun for me to try and get there. The internet is slow here to begin with so that makes it worse.

Wednesday, December 3, 2008

Well, DH is home on vacation for 10 days. How fun, NOT. We can't go anywhere because everything except grocery stores are closed. It's that religous experience when the millions of people from all over the world bring their diseases, illnesses, ailments, here and mingle with everyone else, jam the airports, quadruple the car traffic, leave trash all over to preform their religous rite. Then 1/4-1/2 of them stay illegally and beg on street corners.

To answer questions, SADLY NO we are NOT going HOME to the USA for Christmas. So I will put off Christmas as long as I can here, hopefully DH won't notice the lack of decorations & excitement. I personally don't think anyone can possibly understand how much I hate it and want it to be over unless you are one of the few who know WHY it hurts so much.

I did my walk this morning but I couldn't keep up with Jon (Bon Jovi) today. I did my mile in 21:15 dodging tiny kittens digging in trash bags. That's the bad part about walking so early in the morning, they haven't collected the trash here yet and the kittens & cats have ripped open the bags and strewed the garbage all over. I want to pick up every one of those tiny kittens and bring them home along with those couple of large all black cats. But they aren't used to people so they run.

The words from yesterday - choccie is chocolate, prezzie is present, piccie is picture. annoys the shit outta me when they post that.

DH went out to get me a new battery charger for my camera. We looked & looked & looked last night and couldn't find it anywhere. We decided it's with my memory card & flash drive cap and now my sunglasses where ever they all are. OR as my kids used to say, "Somebody came in and stole it"

Wow, at 11:30AM it's only 29.4C (84.9F), it's cooling off!

Ok, well gotta go back to watching my auctions that will end soon.

MQOTD

Words I HATE! piccies, fabbie, choccie, peeps, prezzie! Grow up, speak adult english!

I did my mile in 20:30 again, woo hoo, 3 days in a row. I deserve a cookie, make that a low fat, sugar free, no cholesterol piece of styrofoam cookie. At least I have made it this far, I'll take my 17 lb weight loss thank you.

7 months down, 5 months to go! Haven't had a period since the end of May, so keeping my fingers crossed. Of course it could also be my thyroid or this diabetes that has stopped it. I've had the horrible curse since I was 9 years old, so I think it's been long enough.

I stitched some more on my Be Merry yesterday. SAdly I can't find my camera battery re charger. I have no clue where it is, I think I left it in the states, that sucks.

Deja Vu

Thank you for your comments from yesterday. Sometimes it gets frustrating when I write and write and there aren't any comments. I know lilfe gets busy but even a "hello, I'm here" is nice. Yes, I know I'm bad with even reading blogs.

So, it's 3 years later, Deja Vu. Some of you from the Cross Stitch Crazy board know what happens to DH every 3 years and it's that time again.

For the second day in a row I've done my mile in 20 minutes, WOO HOO. Still no more weight loss, gain the pound, loose 2, gain 3 loose 3. I stayed the same this month. I did well on Thanksgiving, ate only what I should and only gained 1 lb and my blood sugar stayed under control.

I stitched last night for 2 1/2 hours and did 300 stitches! Woo Hoo. It was the last day of our Stitchalongathon on Needle nook. I didn't finish Be Merry, but I'm closer.

DH's friend claims that BA (British Airways-my FAVOURITE airline) is going to resume flights back here. WOO HOO if they do! UPDATE-Ummm, yeah, I checked the BA website. Don't think I'll be flying BA. They leave here at 09:00AM on EACH flight, 5 days a week, arrive in Heathrow at 2PM, i'd fly out at 4:15PM get in Boston at 6PM-Yuck. THEN, on the way BACK HERE, I'd have a 12 HOUR layover in Heathrow and get in HERE at 5AM. I think NOT!
